The project proposals comprise the change of use of a redundant village post office and re-configuration of a substantial coach house to provide a distinctive 2 bedroom family home together with two self contained adjoining holiday letting apartments. The design proposals include the creation of a dramatic double height glass and oak framed gable extension providing the property with a new focal point maximising the properties southerly aspect. The oak frame extension encloses a new internal feature stair case serving the upper floor, whilst enables the kitchen and dining area to be completely remodelled.
The former post house unit has been converted into two characterful letting apartments using exposed flagstone flooring, blue lias stone walling together with exposed oak beams to complete the boutique interior. The upper floor apartment incorporates a new feature dormer window centred over a curvaceous free standing bath tub, existing stone and timber finishes are exposed creating a luxurious atmosphere.
The site is located within a flood plain zone and securing planning consent for the change of use required extensive consultation with the Local Authority and Environment Agency. The project commenced on site in 2010 and the first letting apartments is complete.
