CLEVELAND SQUARE | LONDON
Chris undertook this project whilst working for Roland Cowan Architects. Chris was responsible for the complete design and project management of this exciting residential refurbishment project from design inception right through to the successful completion on site.
The project comprised the entire remodelling of a penthouse apartment overlooking Cleveland Square. The client’s brief stipulated the importance of connecting the kitchen through to the living areas to enable a coherent, functional interior.
The design included the insertion of a feature skylight which spanned approximately 7m running the full width of the penthouse and visually linking the kitchen, entrance lobby and dining / living areas beyond. The use of carefully designed bespoke book matched veneered joinery, enabled the necessary fire compartment doors separating the entrance lobby and kitchen and living areas to be recessed and visually concealed as part of the adjacent cabinetry units, whilst the use of clear fire rated high level glazing above the double doors enhanced the visual continuity of the interconnecting spaces.
